Firenze Pitti Uomo 93 - Inauguration day + Day at Fortezza da Basso

A few days ago I had no idea at all about what the Italian Men fashion week was, except for the Pitti Immagine website and some articles, news and blog posts here and there which I took as a reference for my own information and personal research.

Last week I had the amazing chance of assisting at the inauguration of the Italian Men fashion week here in Firenze, or Pitti Uomo 93', where not only it is a huge trading fashion fair where new collections and releases of the greatest brands in all the world are presented to the public; there's also an enormous amount of events around the city with the solid purpose of spreading the word about the craftsmanship and fashion culture which has spread its roots in the city of Firenze, creating very strong foundations and conscience about what Italian wear is.

The first event I got invitation for was the official inauguration and press release at the new, recently restored and refurbished Chamber of Commerce of Firenze, where different personalities of the city and all Italy talked about the importance of allocating resources to spread the tradition and improvement of infrastructure to achieve a more sustainable, international and (even more) consolidated fashion industry. I thought it ended being a very interesting event, which was super accurate and serious, and where I didn't see the typical circus you usually see in other fashion events or fashion weeks. I liked that. I think sometimes it's necessary putting some perspective and take more seriously an affair that isn't only about suits, accessories and fun outfits: there's a lot of people implied in fashion industry at all levels, and although some of us see it only as a part-time hobby, for others, fashion is their way of living and put a plate on the table.

The Chamber of Commerce of Firenze was reopened a very recently and I really liked it as an interior and sheltered, but open space to organize events, although the main fair, press presentations and events took place at the Fortezza da Basso pavilions. I loved that anytime there was something around, the organization and PR's informed us all of what was going on by sending e-mails, press releases and news in the same way to bloggers and press (besides, the PittiSmart app is such a marvel, and the real key of an event with so many crowds and things to do and see at the same time). Very few times before I've attended before an event where bloggers are taken as seriously as when we write, shoot and share our blog posts and social media content. Pitti Uomo has been one of those few events, and I'm really happy and grateful I got to live this experience in my year studying abroad.

On the second day of Pitti Uomo I got an invitation to meet the brands at Athlovers (a project which encloses 5 different brands: 42.54, Aeance, Dyne, Gr1ps and Isaora) and their particular vision of sportswear with this ah-mazing and super original streetwear mood (I died for every single jacket there); I went to the Karl Lagerfeld pavilion as well where I got obsessed with its new collection where Karl's face is cartooned into sweatshirts and T-shirts (now I want at least 27 of them to keep in my closet and stay there forever) and, in general terms, I walked around shooting some unique and fun streetstyle you only get to see in a city as Firenze, and in a fashion event like this.

By now, I'm just leaving some pictures of the first and second days at Pitti Uomo 93'. Next post I'll be narrating some extra stuff about this experience!
