Last Sunday we attended a fashion show organized by ANDE, which is the Spanish Association of Emerging Designers. We were invited to come to Villa-Real, a town near Valencia, where I live. So my friend and I took a 1 hour train to see the catwalk, took pictures and told all of you some of the best original, fresh ideas these young creators had in their collections.

I really liked what I saw. I'd been before on similar events, but this one had something different. I came as a guest fashion blogger to broadcast the event, which was about to choose the best designer of the province to take part on the national competition really soon. The catwalk featured some consolidated local designers which showed us their new pieces and encouraged the new designers. HiginioMateu or AlSur Moda Española were some of the guest designers.

Among pieces with really vintage style (full skirts, tweed jackets and sequins dresses) I mostly saw lots of different patterns and textures. Light and soft fabrics, thick layers of colorful materials, geometrics... Unisex clothes in some cases and elegant gowns were some of the things we could enjoy. Different styles from casual, to collections inspired on the sea or natural elements. It was an evening full of fashion, great music and new people to meet. The winner was finally María Manrique with her brand ''The Travellers'' and the models' awards went to Adrián Pastor and Sonia Serrano. Well done!

Last Thursday, Valencia's Astoria Palace hosted YOUNIQUE.ES website launch event. As always, I attended to tell you later the most exciting news on the fashion scene around here. Younique concept is simple, and it's something that I've been losing my mind for lately: emerging and new designers.

The event was about having fun while meeting the designers (all of them showing really handmade collections, created piece by piece and very limited!) and their products, fashion bloggers and friends while having some cocktails, taking pictures and enjoying a catwalk with some models around posing with the designs. It was the second time I had the chance to attend one of this fashion events, but it was really fun and truly inspiring for me.

Meet Sofi Le Geron and her designs at LouveDeNordneg, where art and imagination turn into unique silk scarves and bowties. Sofi studied at London's Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, and launched her brand on 2011. She designs chiffon silk pieces from manipulated photographs of different objects and sculptures created by her own.

Your designs are delicate and very imaginative. How does the main idea of a pattern come up? 

It will all sound very romantic (OMG I’m so French sometimes!!) but for this collection, I used withered flowers from my garden, feathers, leaves, ink, pearls, ribbons, lace, etc. I use these as a base to create miniature sculptures (yes I’m quite small – size 6 and 162cm so I like creating small worlds that fits me!). I spend hours carefully arranging my selection of objects to make sure that the final result is as perfect as possible, harmonious, well balanced and striking by their colours and textures. 

Tell us a little bit about the process that your scarves and bowties follow. Do you use chiffon silk for any particular reason?

I just love silk. It’s so soft on the skin, so delicate, floaty, light but strong at the same time, like the tiny little worms who make it, haha! Because my designs are quite romantic and aerial, so I felt that it was the perfect material to use. 

Do you think there’s any particular pattern, shape or colors that always come on your scarves? Or they just come up in total different ways?

My designs always come up differently, that’s what I prefer when I create patterns: sometimes they really surprise me. When you create something, it’s like psychoanalyzing yourself somehow: you  discover traits of your personality you might not have been aware of. Getting a different result each time is very exciting. But the challenge is to have an harmonious collection and that takes a lot of practice, knowledge and learning.
