When in Firenze, I've been crushing over Stranger Things very hard. In between classes, Uni tasks and dustball cleaning around the flat, I've been really into these 80's kids' adventures around this nothing-ever-happens town in Indiana. Although I was born in the 90's, I've been always fascinated by the era of mullet hair, oversized college sweaters and punk style which happened a decade before I existed. There's something rebel, super against the rules which surrounds everything eighties related, and I love that black and monochromatic styles coexisted with paillettes, brights and neon colors in the everyday life. There's also that fine line between relaxed and formal that's always crossed whenever I see any pictures of relatives wearing outfits from the era, and I love that!

So, in that 80's atmosphere, today I'm partnering again with Shein to show you an outfit inspired in those films and TV series of my childhood that I treasure. This V-neck T-shirt is the obvious pick to pair with a pair of jeans and my All-Star chucks for a sporty and casual look, but... How about pairing it with a midi skirt, high boots and a vintage purse? There's something unexpected and really fun about it! The thing I love the most about this T-shirt is not only that is super basic and easy to pair with almost all the pieces which are currently in my closet in Firenze, but also that my mother is happy because it's so easy to wash and nice quality that I probably won't mess it up when it ends up in the laundry basket! Or so she says, because I'm really clumsy when it comes to washing clothes.

Anyways: when in doubt, go for the unexpected! Pick pieces in which not only you feel comfortable on and feel good, but also that have as good quality as this black and white T-shirt and let you try and mix with tons of different styles, no matter if they might seem a bit weird at the beginning. Sometimes, an outfit ends up looking put together thanks to the little details as shoes, jewelry or bag, which are the only pieces that might give cohesion to the whole thing.

#1 Stick with comfy shoes
When it's raining cats and dogs outside, especially in a cobblestoned city like Firenze or almost any other ancient European city, you might want not to dampen your feet in huge puddles and slippy stairs. A pair of rainboots, no matter if they're high or lower booties (like the ones I got here at Bata, which have turned into my best friends), are a nice and comfortable solution not only to step comfortably in any situation you might get in, but also, a different way to match your outfits while visiting any museum during rainy season. Avoid in any way high heels, flip-flops or similars. You don't want to slide off!

#2 The less things you carry, the better
No one likes to enter into a museum packed with people carrying around the camera, bag, coat (because it's damn warm when you get inside any building), shopping bags, selfie stick (although they aren't allowed in many museums and places anymore, though) and stuff in your hands. Instead, get a comfortable shoulder bag or tiny backpack with the basics to stroll around, so you can hold the camera comfortably and avoid undesired attention of pickpockets.

#3 Layering
Once you get inside any museum or archeological site or cultural building, you'll notice the temperature change in comparison to the exterior. My advice here when visiting a museum in a fashionable and comfortable way is wearing different thin layers to finally culminate in a thick pullover or blazer + outerwear. This way, you'll only have to take off the pullover or sweater and knot it around your waist, so your hands with get a bit extra free without carrying tons of things. Besides, once you step out the place to keep your route, it will be much easier to put it all over again.

#4 Shoulder bags are your best friends
Again talking about freedom, shoulder bags and mini backpacks shall be your best friends not only when visiting any museum, but also when doing tourism through any city. My advice here is that you don't need a ton of things to go soak yourself in hundred of years of culture: you just need your senses and maybe an smartphone with incorporated camera. Fancier accessories are just addons which will only make your visit a little bit more complicated due to crowds, lines and bag controls.

#5 ... so are pocket umbrellas
And last but not least... Have you ever visited any museum while carrying a huge umbrella? If not, I assure you it's the most uncomfortable thing E-V-E-R. Don't get into any more trouble and get yourself a pocket umbrella which will dry up in seconds and which you can fold into your bag or hang in your wrist while visiting. No more tripping over other visitors with this huge and inconvenient accessory!

When I first knew that I was coming for a year abroad in Firenze, Italy, at least half of my days were about doing research on what was the weather like here, how Italians combined staying classy and put together while on their everyday routines, and above all, how the heck I was going to balance not only the fashion-blogging-thing with college, but also, how I would pack a whole year of my life in a 20kg suitcase (plus, two cardboard boxes which arrived at the mailbox soon after settling in. Thanks mum!).

So, when I finally arrived to my home away from home and discovered nothing but two beds and a tiny, tiny cupboard in my room plus tons of drawers in my two nightstands, I couldn't do nothing but compare it to what I left behind in Valencia, and figure out how I was going to organize all my rubbish and sort it into my now limited and kind of impersonal space. The goals were clear: keep a system which allowed me to put everything into place quickly when doing laundry, avoid clothing wrinkles as much as possible and spend as less money as possible in hangers and things I knew would stay here when I left once the course finished. Lucky me, we found tons of matching hangers all over the house and my flatmates' cupboards, and although they don't match perfectly, at least I got to figure out some coordination between my colorful IKEA hangers, the wooden ones and those white plastic ones. I decided that the best idea was to just realign them and join the matching hangers in the cupboard spaces, so I could at least hang all my coats and heavier stuff together.

The fact that I like to keep my hangers the same is due to the cohesion, sense of unity and order it gives to any closet. Here I had to sort my lighter blouses and shirts into those colorful ones which are from IKEA, and then put all the dresses and longer dresses in different kind of hangers and put them depending their length in the sides or the center of the cupboard. Tricky.

Luckily, I don't think I'll accumulate as much stuff in a year, so for now, I won't need to save the  extra space I'd have if I had my matching hangers (and, which at home is essential otherwise I couldn't keep everything together). Talking about shoes, the only thing I could manage to store them was put them as in order as possible in the bottom part. As the great majority of them don't have a box, I had to manage as best as I could to join the available shoeboxes and use them to divide the space. Same goes for bags and hats, as I don't have anything as shelves or similar.

This is the part of the cupboard where I keep all the jackets, heavy stuff like suit pants and wool skirts. This last ones are absolutely a BASIC when it comes to battling North Italy winters, which haven't arrived (at least not very much) yet, but which I've already witnessed with some really cold walks to uni. To that basic winter season list of pieces to deal with Italian weather, I should add thick, over the knee socks and thermal tights. I store them in one of my nightstands' drawers, in which I strategically put an unfoldable fabric case which makes everything easier when storing sports socks, tights, cozy socks to use at home, etcetera.

At the cupboard drawers, which are way too much more spacious, I decided to keep the bigger clothing items as pullovers, jeans and trousers, T-shirts in one of them (I was tempted to try with the Konmari folding method but then I thought than I don't have that much stuff and this way the closet looked a bit fuller than it actually is. No depressive thoughts this way...) and then the Winter accessories and bigger sweaters in the other one (gloves, knit cowls, huge sweaters...) plus some extra toiletries as toothpaste, makeup wipes and tissues which can't be stored in my little bathroom.

As for that white squared tabs, it's my way to get rid of clothes moths and unwanted visitors in my cupboards. They doesn't smell like lavender or something, but they absorb humidity and keep your clothes safe from bugs. I have at least one tab on every drawer and cupboard space. Once they're worn-out, they literally disintegrate and it's time to put on a new tab.

Christmas is right behind the corner guys! I can't believe it's already been three months since I arrived to Italy, and I'm about to leave home for holidays to see my family and friends and do a bit of recap on how the Erasmus experience is going. So, Firenze has been covered up already in tons of lights, colorful garlands and you can spot the slight difference in the amount of people running down the streets respecting the previous weeks. As for me, I'm getting my things packed quickly to land back in Spain by the end of this week, and everything set up for the time when I'm coming back to the flat after Christmas, as not to find everything absolutely messed up.

In today's post I wanted to share with you guys some of my favorite spots here in Firenze to enjoy an evening walk while watching the Christmas lights or just go shopping or grab a capuccino. Also, things you can do for free if you're visiting this amazing Italian city or you are planning a visit this Holiday Season! Let's get started with it:

#1 Piazza della Repubblica

You can have a walk around the square and enjoy the massive tree at the very center of it. It's a very familiar and cozy place to visit almost every day of the year. Due to the carousel there're always plenty of children around, and now that La Rinascente has switched on their façade lights, the whole place looks a bit like something which just came out of a booktale! You can also go to La Feltrinelli bookshop to either grab a warm cuppa or get lost into thousands of books and stationery.

#2 Piazza del Duomo

Might be one of the most touristy spots in this city, but it's also true that Firenze's Cathedral and its cupola are something to be amazed at. I love going through the Piazza del Duomo every single day to my classes, because although it might be hard to believe, it's the less crowded way other than going by San Lorenzo. If you want to have spectacular views of Brunelleschi's Cupola, there's the Oblate Library just a very few steps from the square in which you can enjoy a fantastic view at the terrace's café.

#3 Piazza della Signoria & Piazzale degli Uffizi

This two places which are super close to each other are one of my favorite and personally, most majestic and representative sights of Firenze. Now that it gets dark earlier, I love watching people come and go to the Palazzo Vecchio and how the lights and shadows showcase the sculptures at the Loggia de' Lanzi. There's also this light festival I've discovered recently, which projects some short films and images in the city's main monuments, and this place is one of those in which you can enjoy the show!

#4 Piazzale Michelangelo

It might be one of the best sights in Firenze from the heights. Although climbing to it it's a bit tedious, there's also a regular line bus that drives you there to enjoy the sunset and the city filled with its colorful lights. Besides, you can enjoy a snack or early dinner in one of the many trattorias in the neighbourhood below the Piazzale.

#5 Boboli Gardens

OK. This one's a bit of a lie from me, because it isn't actually a place in which you can see the Christmas lights, and also it's not free. But the Ceramic Museum at the top of the Boboli has one of the best sights in Firenze in which you can see the Tuscan landscape as high as in Piazzale Michelangelo, which is right in front of you. I didn't know it before I went to visit the Palazzo Pitti for the first time, and now it's one of my favorite sightseeing spots in Firenze.
