As some of you might know from my latest blog entries, I'm currently working on a tiny local studio while getting my Master's Degree in Architecture by designing from scratch my final project. What some of you might not know is that my work basically consists of being sort of an archivist, helping classifying super old documents and huge beautiful vintage floor plans among illustrated books and other treasures carrying years and years of local Valencia history. Some friends have already joked about me being the architecture guardian of the eclectic.

I didn't know the real meaning of the word "eclectic" until I started this position I'm currently in, and now, I can't help but say how obsessed I've become with this term and its essence, which is basically in every single building and corner built in the first decades of 20th Century in Valencia, which is also one of my favorite historical eras in so many aspects. Being eclectic means taking the best or most representative clues of lots of different eras and putting them all together to make something new and sensational. new and sensational. Now those crazy outfits I used to put together mixing with regular today pieces (and which I still do) make sense in my mind and finally have a tag. I think this cropped top from Shein which is as millennial as I am together with this vintage A-line skirt couldn't get any more eclectic. It's basically balancing together the new and the antique, fashionably talking too.

So, I encourage you as always to get inspiration from the unexpected, from design, from architecture, from the textures in the daily clouds and the people you walk through every day. You don't know where you can find your next go-to term!

I've been training fencing since I was 16, and although the competition rules require us to wear very specific clothing (which must be strictly white, with special protections and under strict security controls to ensure no one gets hurt), one of the things I love about this sport is that, whenever we're out of the piste and go into the training hall, we can wear the sportswear in which we feel more comfortable to perform the specific exercises of this sport.

Llevo practicando esgrima desde que tenía 16 años y, aunque el reglamento para competición nos exige llevar una vestimenta muy específica (blanca, con protecciones especiales y bajo estrictos controles de seguridad para garantizar que nadie se haga daño), una de las cosas que me encanta de este deporte es que, cuando entrenamos en sala, podemos llevar la ropa deportiva con la que más cómodas nos sintamos para realizar ejercicios más o menos específicos de este deporte.

Por eso, recurro de nuevo a Hunkemöller, esta vez con su línea deportiva, que cuenta con un montón de opciones diferentes para todas nosotras, desde sujetadores deportivos hasta gadgets y otros accesorios como bolsas, botellitas de agua (¡esta es de plástico duro casi indestructible, me encanta!), neceseres, y un montón de cosas más para aportarle un poco de glamour a nuestras sesiones de entrenamiento.

En mi caso, además de la botellita de agua, imprescindible para el entrenamiento y competiciones, escogí este top deportivo corto de tejido técnico tipo neopreno para estos primeros días de temporada, donde solemos hacer estiramientos y algunos ejercicios en la playa o cerca, y donde en una ciudad como Valencia, todavía hace bastante calor. Me encanta cómo sienta, es cómodo y permite que una pueda moverse libremente en un deporte de alto impacto como es la esgrima.

El tejido es gruesecito, así que no transparenta y estoy segura de que se va a convertir en una de esas piezas imprescindibles del cajón de la ropa de entrenar, porque es de esa clase de prendas con un lavado y cuidado facilísimo (ni siquiera hace falta plancharlo, a diferencia de la gran mayoría de mi equipación, donde los pantalones deportivos y de chándal se llevan el premio a moradores perpetuos del montón de “cosas para planchar”).

Así que, si estás pensando en añadir ropa nueva para entrenar a tu armario, Hunkemöller es una buena opción donde poder encontrar esas mallas, sujetador o incluso, calcetines para enfrentar la nueva temporada con más ganas que nunca.

In case you are wondering, yes: as an Erasmus student I do, in fact, study. Well. Sort of: as I've already passed the exam/project I had after Christmas, and I'm about to deliver one of my last papers concerning structural analysis, now I'm regularly visiting the library almost 2-3 times a week to work on my final thesis to be presented once I'm back home. What I love about this thesis is that its topic is of free election, and I already picked my theme: I'm programming a blog-archive of architecture for the city of Valencia, which I'm super excited for you to see once is finished. I'll share the links then.

So, what's my attire for a library day out in Firenze? Well, pretty casual but I still like to play with different accessories and makeup not to lose my regular style: while I might wear a cropped sweatshirt, I still like to pair it with a sweater underneath (as it's been pretty cold around here lately) and my comfiest pair of jeans, because, who's not into jeans?! Then, I like to do my bold red lip as usual, and maybe put on a couple of hoop earrings to keep the outfit a bit nostalgic, as when I used to wear my hoop earrings every single day in my High School years (didn't you as well?).

Showing you on pretty regular basis pieces from Shein has led to you to ask some questions almost every week on social media or via mail about the quality and sizing tips from this online store. Well, about the quality, I have no complaints as all the products I've got from there have had great fabrics, not see-through in any of them and I have even washed them a couple of times now and getting nice results. About the sizing in Shein: my first tip is forget everything you think you knew about your regular clothing size. You'll end up ordering about one to two up to your regular size (Chinese brands tend to manufacture smaller). It's OK: get your sewing kit's tape and note down your measurements. For me, the ones which always end up being crucial to size up are hips and bust measurements.

Besides, it's also great to take into account the material: you can see in their description boxes the type of material the garment is made of. If it's stretchy, cotton, has a bit of spandex or polyester. For stretchier materials, I also like to pick the next size of what my measurements say. And when talking about length and overall fit, I prefer seeing the customer's pictures and commentaries from those who previously bought the garment, if there are any. This way, I can have an approximate idea of how it looks like once worn.

It's been about a week since one of the most known names in the fashion blogger industry broke down to tears in a video talking about the struggle of posting in social media and how she pretended to be happy when she actually wasn't feeling that way, in contrary to what she showed on her social profiles. And, you know what? I find it absolutely understandable, and I think by shouting it out loud, Aimee Song helped create a big awareness not only in mental health issues as depression (which, she confessed, was produced by being bullied when she was just a child) but also on how huge it is the way our lives are currently overexposed at the Internet.

Then, after that event, I shot this pictures at our apartment's building terrace where I got to experiment and try different things for a while. Perks of having a remote control and an unhabited terrace on a 12th floor. Things as wearing a, what I personally think is a super, super showy crop top, which I feel super comfortable and confident on, but it's not the kind of thing I would wear on a daily basis without being a bit hesitant. Or smiling at the camera, which you know I rarely do (it just looks pretty forced 99% of the time. I don't know how to smile properly if there's a camera pointing at me, sincerely).

And then I thought of the things I've heard while fashion blogging here, at Something Fashion and all the criticism I had to endure not only while posting online tiny pieces of my daily life, but also when I was younger and started showing my not-so-usual taste in style. Why would I wear red lipstick if it made me look 10 years older. That I needed a pedicure. That I was fat (come on guys, seriously?!). That I was a narcissist and used to look with superiority to every single person on Earth. And suddenly, I realized that I was receiving such critics and attacks because although it was just a little bit, I was posting me on the Internet and that made me an easy target. But it was OK at that time and didn't harm me at all. And it still is! Through the years, I've come to love and know myself at such level that my self-esteem can't be even approached if it's not for positive, constructive critics. I've come to understand that, exposing what I do, what I look like and a little piece of who I am online has some cons, but that they're way less than the pros.

So. What have I learnt in all these years of fashion blogging and exposing a bit of my life online? That I don't have to share anything if I don't feel to, which doesn't mean being fake: means being human, and having the power to share and tell whatever your mood says.

Matchy-matchy means keeping your whole outfit coordinated from head to toe. From crop-tops or tops matching your skirts or bottom clothing, to coordinating all your accessories, that is matchy-matchy trend. The trend comes from the 90's, and has been featured on several catwalks by Stella McCartney or Dolce & Gabbana among others. Matchy-matchy is not precisely what I would say a style that would go unnoticed: the more patterns, the more colorful, the better!

You know I'm not a big fan of trends, but I like to wear whatever I feel the need to, trendy at that time or not. Neither I'm of crop-tops. In fact, when I found this floral set at Zara, I first thought I would wear the crop top and skirt in separate ways, but I couldn't deny they looked too nice paired together once I assembled my suitcase for the beach town! I can't believe holidays are almost over guys, and that there's less than 3 days to come back to classes at that crazy place which is Architecture School. I would be lying to you if I said I'm not really in the mood of coming back, because somehow I spend so many hours there daily, that College feels almost like home. Also, a little bit of routine and group work with great music, food and jokes won't do any bad, isn't it? 

Despite that meaning maybe not being able to post as much as I've been doing lately, but you know you can always find me strolling through my Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Keeping track of time, and being aware of my watch is my daily habit. I can't live without wearing my watch everywhere I go: being late is not the most polite thing, and time is something wannabe-architects like me must get the most out of.
